MORE ON THE MAKE-UP FOR
"PAN'S LABYRINTH"
Due to his technical background, Guillermo del Toro, is able to understand how an effect is going to work, for the most part, before filming even begins.

Faun's make-up took an average of five hours and consisted mostly of foam latex.  The last piece applied was the pair of horns which weighed 10 pounds and were extremely tiring to wear.  The legs were a unique design wtih the actor standing on eight-inch-high lifts with the lower leg eventually digitally erased in post production. Doug Jones, Faun, also played Pale Man and had to look out of the nostrils.
